A piano reduction is reduction for the piano of a score written for multiple instruments, such as for a symphony, opera, or ballet. The most notable example may be Franz Liszt's transcriptions for solo piano of Beethoven's nine symphonies, which may be not only the greatest reductions of all time but also the greatest works ever created for the piano.
