Glockenspiel Definition

A glockenspiel is a tuned percussion instrument that is played by hitting a series of metal bars or tubes with a pair of wood or plastic mallets to produce very pure, bell-like sounds over a range of about three octaves. It resembles the xylophone except that it is smaller and higher in pitch. Glockenspiels are widely used in both classical and popular music.
